Baking Baguettes

This weekend I finally had success baking french bread!! I've tried a few times, with minimal success at quicker recipes and utter failure at my first long-term attempt. So it was quite exciting to finally do it right. To celebrate (and help devour three baguettes), I had a couple guy friends over for a bread, cheese and wine night. I also made a bead dip. Coupled with some oil and vinegar-not to mention a couple movies- how could it not be a successful get together?? I need to repeat this baking performance. The boys showed JUST as it was done baking...and the baguettes even sang! Delicious.

The successful loaves, and the nice crumb!

The food spread, as it looked on my living room table.

Hope to repeat this soon!

Nice! Wow, good job. I don't think I'd be brave enough to try making bread :)

It's quite fun! I started out with pretty quick recipes, maybe 6 hours total. This is the first time I went for a whole day's worth of work, and I had my oven prepped right.

Give it a shot! Worst thing that happens is it isn't tasty (still makes the house smell nice! :) )

Looks so yummy! I am gonna have to make a bread endeavour quite soon. At Matt's house though as his kitchen is better equipped to handle my needs... meaning it has ANY counter space as none of the counters in my kitchen at home have more than eight inches free, no kneading can be done. Thanks for sharing the end result, if in pictures not in taste!
